Best yacht charter route in Greece

There isn’t one universally “best” yacht charter route in Greece—the right route depends on whether you prioritize calm sailing, iconic islands, beaches, nightlife, or a relaxed itinerary.

For a 7-day charter, these are the main routes to consider:

1. Saronic Gulf — Athens → Aegina → Poros → Hydra → Spetses → Athens

A strong choice for a relaxed week, particularly if you want to start from Athens. The distances are relatively short and the area is more sheltered than the Cyclades.

Typical route:

  • Athens
  • Aegina
  • Poros
  • Hydra
  • Spetses
  • Ermioni
  • Athens

2. Ionian Islands — Lefkada → Meganisi → Ithaca → Kefalonia → Lefkada

This route combines green landscapes, beaches, sheltered bays and shorter island hops. The Ionian generally has milder summer sailing conditions than the Cyclades.

Typical route:

  • Lefkada
  • Meganisi
  • Kastos/Kalamos
  • Ithaca
  • Kefalonia
  • Meganisi
  • Lefkada

3. Cyclades — Paros → Antiparos → Naxos → Mykonos → Syros/Paros

This is the route for the classic Greek-island experience: whitewashed villages, beaches, Mykonos, Paros and the dramatic Aegean landscape. However, the Cyclades are more exposed to the Meltemi, particularly in July and August, so the itinerary needs greater flexibility.

Typical route:

  • Paros
  • Antiparos
  • Naxos
  • Mykonos
  • Syros
  • Paros
