Come aboard and experience the luxury of Northern Star. This 76' (23m) modern cutter-rigged sloop was designed by Ocke Mannerfelt and handcrafted by the Hinckley Company in 1993 with a traditional old world aesthetic that features teak decking, beautiful butterfly hatches and custom mahogany interiors throughout. With her graceful overhangs and elegant sheerline, she combines state-of-the-art performance, power, and control to create a truly modern and timeless classic.
Northern Star is one of the finest yachts in the world and with her carbon furling mast and hydraulic winches, she offers true single-handed capacity underway and an experience steeped in the rich traditions of sailing the open seas.

A 2014 refit included new luxury soft furnishings and bed linens, new table ware, fresh exterior varnish, all brass refinished and all systems checked and serviced.

NORTHERN STAR accommodates 6 guests in three cabins. The interior is fully air-conditioned and headroom is 8' to 6'
throughout

The spacious Master Suite is forward with a king v-berth, hanging locker and private head with a separate stall shower. There is also a comfortable seat and a writing desk on the starboard side.

A center hallway runs aft to the salon. Aft and to port of the master stateroom is an elegant VIP Suite that was originally planned for the King and Queen of Norway who frequented the yacht. This cabin is an intimate oasis featuring his and her twins, ample storage and a private head with a stall shower.

Also aft of the master on the port side is a common head with shower. On the starboard side are two well-appointed guest cabins, each with over and under single berths, a bureau and hanging locker. These two cabins share the common head and shower.

Capt. Richard Pims also doubles up as an amazing Chef on board Northern Star.

Richard was born in Queens, New York and grew up in New Jersey, not far from the shore. He attended Johnson & Wales University
studying Culinary Arts.

As a young child he loved all sports, games and pastimes, especially hockey, golf, hiking, climbing, fishing and sailing.
Richard soon became hooked on sailing. From a very young age he would sail with family and friends, and then he
regularly sailed with an uncle throughout the rest of his childhood.

Having qualified with a bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts and Related Services at University Richard went on to work as a Chef in some of the finest restaurants in New York and as a result brings a high level of sophistication to all aspects on onboard yacht hospitality, particularly by preparing world class meals onboard for charter guests. Richard says he is very comfortable with silver service dining, due to his culinary background, but he is very adaptable to more casual dining usually enjoyed on board a sailing yacht.

From a Captain's perspective he really enjoys to see guests active and getting involved with sailing during the charter, as well as other adventures by water or on land.

His favourite yachting destination was the San Blas Islands in Panama, which is a group of untouched islands, with indigenous Indians living a traditional lifestyle. It was one of the most amazing places he's ever been, and loves that he can experience these exotic places as a Captain on a charter yacht. His motto became "Don't wait to live your dreams"!

Richard enjoys spending his spare time reading, fishing, live music, tennis, scuba diving and travel. His friends describe him as Driven, Adventurous and Funny. All great characteristics for a Yacht Charter Captain - and Chef!!
