Here’s a breakdown of how much it costs to charter a sailing yacht in Greece — and what variables affect the price:

💶 Typical Cost Ranges

  • For a basic sailing yacht (bareboat or skippered), rates begin at around €1,500–€3,000 per week in low/shoulder season.

  • More commonly, average weekly rates for skippered or modest crewed charters in the Greek islands start around €5,000–€10,000 per week.

  • For luxury sailing yachts (larger size, full crew, high-end amenities), weekly rates can rise to €20,000+ and much higher.

🔍 What Affects the Price

  • Yacht size & type: Longer vessels, more cabins, higher spec = higher cost.

  • Crew vs bareboat: Fully crewed charters cost more than bareboat (you supply skipper/crew).

  • Season/time of year: Peak summer (July-August) is most expensive; shoulder seasons are cheaper.

  • Location/base/itinerary: Starting point, cruising area, and whether you visit premium islands influence cost.

  • Extras & operating costs: Fuel, provisioning, port fees, VAT, and other extras can add substantially. For example, one article said base charter fees start around €10,000/week then extra 25-40% for provisioning allowance (APA) etc.

  • Charter duration: Standard is 1 week; shorter trips may cost more per day.

  • Condition/age of yacht: Newer, more luxurious yachts cost more.

📝 Practical Tips

  • If you are budgeting, aim for ~€2,000-€5,000/week for a modest sailing yacht in shoulder season.

  • If you want comfort and crew, budget €8,000-€15,000/week or more.

  • For luxury expect €20,000+ and up, depending on yacht and services.

  • Always check what is included: Is the skipper included? Are fuel, food, port fees included or extra?

  • Book early for peak season — many yachts fill well in advance.

  • Ask about VAT and other taxes: Greece has specific rules which affect total cost.
